For those technical folk, Cybernoid's contents are listed below (links to updated drivers are on my 'Linkz' page); if any of you reading this has any of the hardware below and is having trouble getting it to work with any version of Linux, drop me an e-mail and I'll give you the details of any workarounds I needed to get that piece of hardware to work....

Apart from that; Firestar depends totally on Cybernoid for data storage and inter-PC communication... Firestar is connected to Cybernoid via a parallel-transfer cable (a PLIP (Parallel Line Internet Protocol) link which averages 600Kb/s) which is quite nice once you get used to it ;}

I must stress that Firestar is very SLOW.... I have encoded MPEG Layer 3 files on it; but waiting five hours for a single track to encode can be VERY disheartening :-(

I know that most people think that pages and pages of technical stats are really, really boring but I get quite a few people ask me; "What kind of hardware do you write/run programs on..", when I don't answer with Pentium ][, etc, etc, they sound surprised.... Who needs Pentium ][ ? I certainly don't !
